- Know your plan. Read the book or plan
completely. Don't just skip to the list of foods and forget the rest
of the book. Study it. Make sure you understand how it works and
what you are allowed to eat. Only once you are sure, should you start
the plan. Don't set yourself up for failure before you even get
started.
- Count your carbs. Keep a written record, use an
online counter (I use Fitday.com - it's
free) or get a carb counter book and keep your carbs tallied in your head -
but keep track. Don't forget to subtract the fiber and depending on
how you handle them the sugar alcohols.
- Eat fat to keep the cravings away. You gotta
eat fat to - burn it. I have found that for the best results my diet
should have a fat/protein/carb ratio of 60-70% Fat/20-30% Protein/10-20%
Carbs for induction. Good sources of food to boost your fat intake
are: nuts, cream cheese, cheese, butter, cream, mayonnaise, bacon and of
course pork rinds.
- Eat your veggies. You need the fiber to avoid
constipation and they're good for you.
- Drink water. The more the better.
- Take supplements! At
the very least you should take a good multi-vitamin and there are many other
supplements that can be beneficial.
- Exercise. Any little bit only helps to burn more fat.
- Get creative with your meals. Search for low
carb recipes. Use low carb products
in place of high carb products. Recently there have been many new low
carb products to hit the market and they get better tasting everyday.
- Weigh yourself on a regular basis - especially when you
start a low carb plan and periodically to see your results. Some
people don't agree, but I find weighing myself frequently helps to see how
the foods I eat affect my weight.
- Take measurements. This is also important to do at
the beginning and to check results. At some point you may think your
weight loss has stalled because the scale has not budged but the inches will
continue to disappear.
- Look for low
carb support. Do research on low carb diets. Read other
people's stories, they may help you in your own quest for weight loss. Go to the official sites of the plan you are following for additional tips. Devour every bit of information you can find.
